TAGT Names Webb GT Teacher Jessica Fair the State’s Top Educator of the Gifted for 2021 and McKinney Gifted and Talented Alliance Top Parent Group of the Gifted
The spotlight is shining brightly on the McKinney ISD ALPHA program with not one, but two state awards this December. Earlier this month, the Texas Association for the Gifted and Talented (TAGT) named Webb Elementary ALPHA teacher Jessica Fair its 2021 Educator of the Gifted and the McKinney Gifted and Talented Alliance (MGTA) its 2021 Parent Group of the Gifted for the state of Texas. The awards are two of four statewide awards bestowed by TAGT each year.

MEF Surprises MISD Educators with $115,000 in Classroom Grants During Annual Holiday Delivery
On Friday, Dec. 3, a dismally cloudy morning couldn’t dampen the sunny disposition at Audi McKinney as a cavalcade of cars rolled out of the parking lot and fanned out across the city to deliver McKinney Education Foundation (MEF) grants to McKinney ISD educators. This year, MEF awarded $115,000 in grants to 34 MISD teachers, media resources specialists and curriculum leaders—including its largest grant ever of $38,000 for reading instruction materials that will impact the district’s kindergarten and first grade learners.

McKinney ISD has been named to the 2021 Dallas Morning News Top 100 Places to Work list, marking the second time that the district has been recognized in DMN’s annual tally of area companies.

701 MISD AP Students Earn Recognition from College Board, MHS Junior Earns Perfect Score on AP Computer Science Exam
McKinney ISD students taking part in Advanced Placement (AP) exams in the spring of 2021 earned accolades from the College Board for their performance, with 701 students from McKinney Boyd High School, McKinney High School and McKinney North High School receiving recognition. In addition, Ethan Bickel, a junior at McKinney High School, earned a perfect score on the AP Computer Science A exam, placing him among the top .5 percent of the 63,980 AP test-takers for that exam worldwide.

The McKinney Boyd High School Percussion Ensemble have been invited to perform at the prestigious Percussive Arts Society’s International Convention (PASIC) to be held Nov. 10–13, in Indianapolis after winning first place in the PAS International Percussion Ensemble Competition.
