School starts Wednesday, August 10. Elementary school hours are 8 a.m. to 3:07 p.m., middle school hours are 8:45 a.m. to 3:52 p.m., and high school hours are 7:30 a.m. to 2:37 p.m. We look forward to seeing you!

In this three-part series, we look at the McKinney ISD Newcomers Program through the eyes of an educator and two students. In part one, we meet Zabdi Gonzalez who did not speak English when she moved from Mexico to Texas in 1989. In spite of the challenges she faced, Gonzalez went on to become a bilingual teacher, assistant principal and campus principal, and she now leads the MISD English Learner Support Department.
