Jennifer Middleton McKinney ISD 2019 School Nurse of the Year

The registered nurses of McKinney ISD Health Services believe that a student’s health status has a direct impact on the ability for one to learn and meet educational goals. McKinney ISD has a registered nurse at each campus.

The school nurse is a professional nursing specialty committed to lifelong learning. School nursing supports student success by providing health care through assessment, intervention, and follow-up for all children and staff within the school setting.

The school nurse serves as a liaison between school personnel, family, community and healthcare providers to advocate and facilitate the educational process. The school nurse also provides for the safety of students and staff and addresses the need for integrating health solutions into the education setting.
