MISD Announces New Sr. Director of Administrative Services: Dr. Michael Winters
McKinney ISD has hired Dr. Michael Winters to serve as the MISD senior director of administrative services. He comes to the district from Vicksburg, Mississippi where he has most recently served as associate superintendent for the Vicksburg Warren Independent School District.
Dowell Middle School Advances to National Finals of World’s Largest Rocket Contest
A team of four students from Dowell Middle School is headed to the national finals of the Team America Rocketry Challenge on May 18 at Great Meadow in The Plains, VA, outside of Washington, D.C.

MISD Celebrates Distinguished Students and Inspirational Teachers at Annual Dinner
On Thursday, May 2, McKinney ISD celebrated its Distinguished Student Awards Dinner at the MISD Community Event Center. Each year, the district honors 45 outstanding MISD high school seniors with the Distinguished Student Award—the highest honor bestowed upon a student by the district. Each of those students names a specific teacher who made the biggest impact on them during their high school career, and MISD presents those teachers with the Inspirational Teacher Award.

MISD Teachers of the Year!
McKinney ISD celebrated its top teachers at the new MISD Community Event Center on Thursday, April 4, as it held its annual Teacher of the Year Dinner and announced its MISD Elementary and Secondary Teachers of the Year. Marlana Dumas from Minshew Elementary was named the district’s 2019 Elementary Teacher of the Year, and Cockrill Middle School’s Alisha Jonker was named the MISD Secondary Teacher of the Year.
