50 MISD Seniors Earn National Merit and College Board Recognition
McKinney ISD high school seniors earned recognition from the National Merit Scholarship Corporation and the College Board for their outstanding performance on the 2018 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT©) which functions as an initial screen of entrants in the National Merit Scholarship Program.

MISD High School Students Named to Congressional Youth Advisory Council
U.S. Congressman Van Taylor (TX-03) has named 45 high school students from his congressional district to serve on his 2019-2020 Congressional Youth Advisory Council. Among the students selected were four students from McKinney High School and one student from McKinney Boyd High School

Second graders at Slaughter Elementary each received two free books and got to meet the great-great-granddaughter of Henry Ford when Bob Tomes Ford, First Book Foundation and the Ford Fund visited the campus to read with them and share some STEM-focused, fun activities.
MISD to Host Low Cost PSAT/SAT ZAPS Test Preparation Seminar in October 2019
Each year, McKinney ISD hosts comparatively low cost, one day ZAPS college test prep seminars in the fall and spring for MISD high school students to help them get ready for the PSAT, SAT or ACT. On Oct. 14, MISD will has a PSAT/SAT prep course at McKinney Boyd High School.

Tip411 Anonymous Tip System Enhances MISD School Safety Measures
McKinney ISD utilizes the tip411 communication program to enhance its comprehensive safety program. Through tip411, students or any concerned community member can communicate quickly and anonymously with the McKinney Police Department to report criminal or suspicious behavior.
Courage, Integrity and Purpose: MISD Staff Gather for 2019–2020 Convocation at MISD Stadium
MISD Superintendent Dr. Rick McDaniel and the Board of Trustees hosted the 2019–2020 MISD Convocation at the MISD Stadium and Community Event Center on Aug. 9, 2019. It’s the one time each year that every employee in the district gathers at one time. The event officially kicked off the 2019-2020 school calendar.
