MISD Names 30 Year Veteran Shawn Pratt as Lone Finalist in Superintendent Search
At the monthly meeting of the McKinney ISD Board of Trustees on February 28, McKinney ISD named Shawn Pratt the lone finalist in its search for the district’s next superintendent. With that announcement, the board will now observe the state-required 21-day waiting period before officially approving Pratt, who has served most recently as MISD’s assistant superintendent of student activities, health and safety. Pratt’s career in education spans 30 years, all of it invested here in MISD as he has progressed from one position of leadership to the next.

On Thursday, February 16, McKinney Boyd High School held its annual Black History Celebration which featured guest speakers Empress Drane and Marta Gore and an African dance performance from the Bandan Koro African Drum and Dance Ensemble.

The McKinney ISD two-way dual language program offered at Caldwell Elementary will be accepting applications from February 17, 2023, through April 14, 2023, for the 2023-2024 school year. There are two applications for parents to consider, based on grade level.
Ice Storm 2023: To Cover Days Missed Due to Inclement Weather, MISD Will Use Bad Weather Make-Up Days and Seek Waivers from TEA
McKinney ISD will use two days designated as bad weather days on the district calendar to make up for school days missed during the ice storm last week. The district will apply for waivers to cover the other two days that students were out of school.
McKinney ISD Inducts Athletics Hall of Honor Class of 2023 (Video)
In January, the McKinney ISD Athletics Department inducted its Hall of Honor Class of 2023 at a special luncheon held at the MISD Community Event Center. Induction into the Hall of Honor is the highest honor awarded in McKinney ISD Athletics and was established to recognize former student athletes, coaches, teams and community contributors who have made a significant impact on the history of our district’s athletics program.
