MISD Announces Nate Leonard as the New Head Football Coach of McKinney High School

At the January Board of Trustees meeting Monday night, McKinney ISD announced that it has hired Nate Leonard as the new head football coach of McKinney High School. Leonard comes to MISD with 8 years of coaching experience at both the high school and collegiate levels. Most recently, he has served as the head football coach at Canyon High School in Comal ISD.

MISD Names 30 Year Veteran Shawn Pratt as Lone Finalist in Superintendent Search

At the monthly meeting of the McKinney ISD Board of Trustees on February 28, McKinney ISD named Shawn Pratt the lone finalist in its search for the district’s next superintendent. With that announcement, the board will now observe the state-required 21-day waiting period before officially approving Pratt, who has served most recently as MISD’s assistant superintendent of student activities, health and safety. Pratt’s career in education spans 30 years, all of it invested here in MISD as he has progressed from one position of leadership to the next.

MISD Lowers Tax Rate Another 6.3 Cents

At their August meeting on Tuesday night, the McKinney ISD Board of Trustees approved a 6.3 cent property tax rate decrease for 2022–2023. This tax rate decrease follows last year’s drop of 9.8 cents for a combined tax rate decrease of 16.1 cents over the course of 2 years and 35.7 cents over the last 7 years.

MISD Names Dr. Ebonee King Principal of Valley Creek Elementary

Cockrill AP Melanie Machost Named Principal of Dowell Middle School

McKinney ISD announced Tuesday that Cockrill Middle School Assistant Principal Melanie Machost has been named principal of Dowell Middle School. The McKinney ISD Board of Trustees approved the move at their meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 17. Machost brings 16 years in education, including four years of campus administrative experience, to her new position.
