McKinney, Texas – The McKinney ISD Board of Trustees approved the 2023–2024 MISD school calendar at their regular meeting on Oct. 24, and it is now available on the MISD website.

You can view the calendar here.

The 2023-2024 school year will begin on Aug. 9, 2023, and will conclude on May 23, 2024, with graduation for all three high schools planned for Friday, May 24.

Parents will note that the start of Winter Break has been moved back next year to Dec. 22 and will extend through Jan. 8. The new calendar also moves next year’s Spring Break back a week to March 11-15.

McKinney ISD Chief Communications Officer Cody Cunningham said that the changes will help keep MISD’s calendar in line with neighboring districts, the University of North Texas and particularly Collin College, where many MISD students attend dual-credit courses.

The calendar includes student holidays on Sept. 4, Oct. 9, Nov. 20-24, Jan. 15, Feb. 16 and March 29, with April 15 and 29 built in as bad-weather make-up days.

Also included are six teacher workdays in August before the start of school, teacher exchange days in October and May, and staff development days throughout the year.

“I think this is a really good calendar that tries to take into consideration instruction and at the same time being respectful of holidays and giving everyone a break,” Cunningham said.
