MISD Superintendent Dr. Rick McDaniel and the Board of Trustees hosted the 2019–2020 MISD Convocation at the MISD Stadium and Community Event Center on Aug. 9, 2019. It’s the one time each year that every employee in the district gathers at one time. The event officially kicked off the 2019-2020 school calendar.

Sperry Dedication, Stellar Design and Sold Out Shows Make for Grand Opening at MHS Performing Arts Center
On Jan. 31, 2019, a new era dawned in McKinney High School fine arts as the district officially opened the brand-new, 1,000 seat MHS Performing Arts Center. District officials also unveiled the Sperry Performance Hall, named in honor of longtime member of the Board of Trustees, Lynn Sperry, and her husband Neil for their staunch support of MISD fine arts. And, the MHS production of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s “The Phantom of the Opera” enjoyed a near-capacity audience that night followed by two sold out performances to round out a highly successful three-show run.
McKinney ISD Graduation Ceremonies Bring 2016-2017 to a Close
On Friday, June 2, McKinney ISD administrators, staff and the Board of Trustees welcomed the family and friends of nearly 1,700 MISD seniors from McKinney Boyd High School, McKinney High School and McKinney North High School to celebrate and honor their students as they received their diplomas and officially became MISD graduates.

With sunlight rolling back the clouds on a chilly morning in December, McKinney ISD Superintendent Dr. Rick McDaniel, members of the MISD Board of Trustees and McKinney Mayor Brian Loughmiller donned hard hats and hoisted shovels to officially break ground on the new MISD Stadium and Community Event Center while a crowd of city officials, student representatives and other distinguished guests looked on.
Echegaray Named Principal of Finch Elementary
Veteran Slaughter Elementary School Assistant Principal Erika Echegaray has been chosen as the new principal of Finch Elementary. The decision was announced at the McKinney ISD Board of Trustees monthly work study meeting Tuesday night. Echegaray brings eight years of administrative experience to her new role.
Six MISD Seniors Named 2024 National Merit Finalists
Six McKinney ISD seniors from McKinney Boyd High School, McKinney High School and McKinney North High School who qualified in the fall as National Merit Semifinalists have been named Finalists by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation.

In response to HB3, on August 14, 2023, the McKinney ISD School Board approved a measure allowing the district to implement a multi-layered security model, update local Board policy to allow McKinney ISD security personnel to be armed, and approved specific security personnel in McKinney ISD.
