McKinney, TX —The MEF Grant Patrols delivered Christmas cheer AND giant checks to their grant recipients!

It’s one of the best days of the year…McKinney Education Foundation classroom grant delivery day! On the morning of Friday, Dec. 8, six teams of MEF and McKinney ISD officials made their rounds delivering $86,875 in classroom grants to 56 teachers and media resource specialists across the district.

Board President Philip Hassler was among those delivering the grants. “Nothing brings me greater joy than representing the McKinney ISD Board of Trustees and partnering with MEF as we award grants to teachers and staff that allow them to better serve our McKinney ISD students,” he said. “I love this time and love the opportunity to just celebrate and to share how much we appreciate what teachers and staff do. And, thanks so much to MEF for their partnership and support of McKinney students, McKinney teachers and the entire McKinney community.”

The grants ranged in value from a few hundred dollars to thousands and will be used for specific classroom needs that will directly impact learning. Teachers applied for the grants, which are funded by voluntary teacher payroll donations. In addition to the funds awarded for classroom grants, MEF also awarded $15,000 to MISD Professional Development Coordinator Jenny McGowan, bringing the grant total to $101,875.
