McKinney, Texas – When the McKinney Boyd Broncos hit the gridiron in August for the 2022 football season, they’ll do so under the leadership of new head football coach Daniel Foster.

The move follows the retirement of Joe McBride, who has led the Broncos since 2019. Foster, who came to McKinney Boyd with McBride to serve as offensive coordinator, assumes leadership of a program that regained its footing over the past three seasons, qualifying for the 6A football playoffs two years in a row.

“I have full confidence that Coach Foster will lead the McKinney Boyd football program with excellence,” said MISD Athletic Director Jennifer Frazier. “The staff has laid a great foundation, one that will continue to grow our athletes on and off the football field. Coach Foster has a great rapport with his players and staff, and I look forward to continued success within the football program.”

Last year, Boyd posted an 8-3 record as Foster’s offense averaged 29 points per game. With the promotion, Foster becomes only the third head coach to lead the McKinney Boyd squad since the school opened in 2006.

“This job is a dream I have had since I played my last high school football game,” said Foster. “I have always wanted to give back and pour into kids like Coach McBride, Coach Brazil, Coach Cleave Ryan and Galen Zimmerman did for me.”

Foster is a graduate of Stephen F. Austin University, where he played football, and he has previously served as an assistant coach at Frisco Liberty, Coppell and Dripping Springs. At Frisco Liberty, Foster was part of a coaching staff that led their team to multiple regional semi-final appearances, and he was the offensive coordinator of a Dripping Springs team that reached the 2016 regional finals.
