McKinney, Texas — The McKinney ISD’s Board of Trustees February meeting is in the books. I want to share with you a few highlights from our meeting last night.

First on the agenda was celebrations and recognitions.

Superintendent Pratt honored our McKinney ISD School Resource Officers.

Next, we recognized our “We Are McKinney” superintendent award winners. This month’s winners are instructional coach Lindsey Cole from Press Elementary and Evan Cueva, history teacher from Dowell Middle School.

Then we honored one of our hard-working paraprofessionals. This month’s winner is Brandi Hazelwood who serves as house secretary at Serenity High School.

Our “Every Student, Every Day” award winners this month included

  • Bryan Dominguez from Caldwell Elementary and
  • Paisley Jacobs from Minshew Elementary

We also honored our “Texas Music Educators Association” All-State participants. 11 students from McKinney ISD joined the prestigious ranks of those selected for this elite group.

Finally, we celebrated the 25 schools and their school counselors who earned the coveted CREST award, which stands for “Counselors Reinforcing Excellence for Students in Texas”. This award places our campuses in the top 3% in the state of Texas. Congratulations to our school counselors on this achievement, and thank you for all that you do for McKinney ISD.

Following celebrations and recognitions, Dr. Amber Epperson, Jennifer Akins, Dr. Michael Winters, and Marlene Harbeson shared the Texas Academic Performance Reports with the board.

Next, a strategic plan update was given by Assistant Superintendent Melanie Raleeh.
