Canvas FAQs

  • What is Canvas?

Canvas is an online educational environment that allows teachers to provide instructional support, class calendars, assignments and resources for students.

  • How does my student access Canvas?

Students can access Canvas using their current network username and password. If your student doesn’t know these credentials, please have him/her see the campus Library staff.

Students can log in through single sign-on (SSO) or through the Canvas Student mobile app. Students can download the app from Google Play or the Apple App Store.

  • Can parents access Canvas?

Parents are able to access their student’s account as an “observer” beginning the first day of school. Parent Observer accounts have limited permissions that allow parents to see what is going on in a course without interrupting the flow of daily course communication. If there are issues with logging in, please contact the campus to get the correct HAC credentials.

Canvas is available to Parents online through single sign-on (SSO). Parents can also access Canvas through the Canvas Parent mobile apps. The Google Play Canvas Parent app is available for download here, the iOS Canvas Parent app is available here.

  • What is the difference between Canvas and HAC?

  • Who do I ask for help with Canvas?

For assistance with assignments, test dates, quizzes, or other Canvas course content, please contact your child’s teacher.

  • How do I view my student’s grades in Canvas?

To view student grades in Canvas, click the “View Grades” button in the right-hand column on the Canvas Dashboard. Then click on the title of the course you are interested in learning more about. Please note, that Canvas grades are considered feedback for learning and are not official grades. Official grades are available in the district’s Home Access Center (HAC). For more information about HAC please visit the HAC FAQs page.
