McKinney, Texas – McKinney ISD food services is encouraging parents of students who may qualify for free or reduced-priced meals to apply now for the current 2021-2022 school year.

Although no application or eligibility determination was required for students to receive free meals for 2021–2022, income eligibility requirements will likely resume in the 2022–2023 school year.

In light of that, McKinney ISD will process household applications during the current school year to ensure that eligible students will receive free or reduced-price meals during the first 30 days of the 2022–2023 school year while 2022–2023 applications are still being processed.

Families that meet eligibility requirements for free or reduced-price meals also qualify to receive Pandemic Electronic Benefit Transfer (P–EBT) benefits, which help families purchase food for home through the use of an electronic debit card. P–EBT is administered through Texas Health and Human Services.

Starting in August 2022, McKinney ISD will begin distributing letters to the households of children in the district about these 2022–2023 eligibility benefits and actions households need to take to apply. Applications also are available at 510 Heard St. McKinney, TX-75069.
