McKinney ISD is taking time during the month of September to raise awareness about the importance of consistent school attendance.

Did You Know?

  • Regular attendance is a skill that helps children succeed in school and life.
  • All students who are voluntarily registered for school are required to attend per Texas law.
  • Excessive absences could cause students to fall behind academically in school.
  • Tardies can also negatively impact student academic performance.
  • The constant disruption of school absences can cause anxiety and depression in students.

What Parents Can Do…

  • Register for HAC to monitor daily attendance and grades.
  • Help establish evening routines that allow children to complete homework and get enough sleep.
  • Prepare the night before by packing lunch/snacks and laying out clothes, shoes and all accessories.
  • Help your children organize backpacks and place them by the door.
  • Set a morning alarm time that allows plenty of time to get ready and arrive at school on time.
  • Use our MISD School Calendar to schedule appointments and trips outside of the school day or when school is not in session.
  • When your child is absent from school: Please provide a signed note by the parent/guardian that describes the reason for the absence within 3 days.
