McKinney ISD has partnered with Minnie’s Food Pantry to help feed students and families this summer.

Every other Wednesday, until school begins, Minnie’s will be conducting drive-thru pick-up events at Scott Johnson Middle School.

The remaining pick-up dates for this summer program are July 8, July 22 and August 5.

Each drive-thru event will be from 12:00-1:30p.m.

Those who participate will be asked to show their photo ID and will not need to get out of their vehicle for service. Each care-package of groceries is set to feed a family of four for two weeks. Please make sure that there is adequate space in your trunk for your package. Families can expect to receive a minimum of:

  • Several pounds of fresh produce (apples, oranges, carrots, onions etc)
  • Multiple pounds of non-perishable items (box of cereal, canned vegetables, spaghetti, spaghetti sauce, peanut butter, mac-n-cheese, rag of rice, bag of beans, jelly, variety of snacks)

MISD has already had two successful summer events with Minnie’s Food Pantry. At the first event, 320 families received care packages in 90 minutes and at our second event, 385 families were served.

Minnie’s Food Pantry offers text reminders for these events. Text the message @misdsum20 to the phone number (469) 351-2257 to begin receiving text message reminders about when each of these events will be taking place.

If you have any questions, please feel free to email Mrs. Trina Moody at [email protected].
