Amy Plate, McKinney ISD Director of Childcare

McKinney, Texas – McKinney ISD has hired Amy Plate to serve as the district’s new director of childcare programs. Plate comes to MISD from Allen ISD and brings 26 years of experience in childcare services to her new position.

The director job became available with the retirement of longtime MISD Childcare Director Pam Parmley. Plate will transition to her new duties this summer.

“Amy Plate brings with her over two decades of experience creating and implementing a wide variety of childcare programs,” said MISD Chief Communications Officer Cody Cunningham. “Many of the after-school and summer programs she developed in Allen ISD have become the model for school districts across the state of Texas. She has creative ideas when it comes to after-school programs for students, a passion for students and families and a proven track record of success. We look forward to providing the best after-school, employee preschool and childcare programs possible for our students and community.”

As MISD’s childcare director, Plate will oversee the district’s Club 360 After-School Program as well as Holiday Care, Summer Camp, Mother’s Day Out at McKinney High School, Infant and Toddler Care at Lawson and the MISD Preschool Programs at McKinney High School, McKinney North High School and McKinney Boyd High School.

Plate began her career in 1995 when she was hired as the coordinator for the Allen ISD Kids Club. In 2009, she was named director of the program and served in that capacity for eight years. Since 2017, Plate has served as the Allen ISD director of community services, overseeing operations for the district’s Community Education, Learn and Play Day Preschool and Kids Club After-School Programs.

Now, she brings her expertise to MISD. “It is an absolute honor to be named the director of childcare programs for one of the most sought out school districts in Texas,” said Plate. “I am very excited and look forward to implementing a framework that focuses on providing quality care and programming for kids and their families.”

Plate earned her bachelor’s degree in general studies with an emphasis in business management, government and sociology from Texas Woman’s University.
