Dear McKinney ISD Parents,

As we near the conclusion of the 2020–2021 school year, I look back on the past year with a great sense of pride in our school district and our community. I truly believe that the challenges we have faced together have revealed the strength of our students, our teachers, our staff and you—our MISD parents. Thank you for your support, patience and partnership through this journey.

Now, as we turn our attention to the road ahead, I have important changes to share with you about the 2021–2022 school year. I am encouraged by the reduction in COVID-19 cases in our community and our district, and we thank the MISD Health Services Department and the McKinney Fire Department for their tireless efforts to provide vaccinations to the McKinney community and to our staff.

With that in mind, I am pleased to tell you that we will welcome all MISD students back to campus in August as we continue to focus our efforts on providing a first-class education that emphasizes social, emotional and academic growth. McKinney ISD believes strongly in face-to-face instruction between students and teachers. Therefore, it is our intent to be back 100% in-person this fall, and not offer virtual learning for the 2021–2022 school year. This plan is contingent upon direction from the Texas Education Agency.

Beginning May 24, 2021, and continuing into the fall semester, masks and face coverings will be optional at all district campuses and facilities for classes and other events. The district will continue to monitor trends and will adjust accordingly should the need arise.

Masks are recommended, but not required, for graduates and guests at this year’s graduation ceremonies that will be held at the Allen Event Center on May 21, 2021, for each of our three high schools. All three high school graduations will be streamed live. Details will be released in the coming days.

We also look forward to welcoming parents and volunteers back to our campuses this fall. Thank you for your patience this year and willingness to help us maintain procedures established to keep students and staff as safe as possible.

Estimados padres de familia de McKinney ISD,

A medida que nos acercamos a la conclusión del año escolar 2020–2021, miro hacia atrás al año pasado con un gran sentido de orgullo por nuestro distrito escolar y nuestra comunidad. Realmente creo que los desafíos que hemos enfrentado juntos han revelado la fortaleza de nuestros estudiantes, nuestros maestros, nuestro personal y ustedes,nuestros padres de MISD. Gracias por su apoyo, paciencia y colaboración durante este viaje.

Ahora, al centrar nuestra atención en el camino que tenemos por delante, tengo cambios importantes que compartir con ustedes sobre el año escolar 2021–2022. Me alienta la reducción de casos de COVID-19 en nuestra comunidad y nuestro distrito, y agradecemos al Departamento de Servicios de Salud de MISD y al Departamento de Bomberos de McKinney por sus incansables esfuerzos para proporcionar vacunas a la comunidad de McKinney y a nuestro personal.

Con eso en mente, me complace decirles que daremos la bienvenida a todos los estudiantes de MISD al campus en agosto mientras continuamos enfocando nuestros esfuerzos en brindar una educación de primera clase que enfatice el crecimiento social, emocional y académico. McKinney ISD cree firmemente en la instrucción cara a cara entre estudiantes y maestros.
