McKinney ISD Director of Human Resources Darla Jackson

McKinney, Texas – Longtime McKinney ISD educator and principal of Evans Middle School Darla Jackson has been named director of human resources for MISD. Jackson brings 20 years in education to her new position, with nine years of experience as a campus administrator and the past six years spent as the principal of Evans Middle School.

Jackson began her career in 1997 in Arlington ISD, then stepped away from the classroom for several years to stay home with her children. Her eventual return to education brought her to MISD and Eddins Elementary, where she served as a fourth grade teacher. When Cockrill Middle School opened in 2008, Jackson made the move to secondary education and served as Cockrill’s ELAR department chair and later as the instructional coach.

In 2013, Jackson moved into campus administration, serving first as the assistant principal at Evans Middle School and then as the assistant principal at McNeil Elementary School. She returned to Evans in 2016 when she was chosen as the school’s new principal. During Jackson’s tenure at Evans, the school has earned recognition as an AVID Site of Distinction and as one of N2 Learning’s Schools Transforming Learning. In 2021, Jackson was named Administrator of the Year by the Texas School Counselor Association.

“I am grateful for the opportunity and very excited to join the Human Resources Department for MISD,” Jackson said. “I look forward to supporting our principals and educators in our journey to continue providing an exemplary educational experience for all our students in McKinney. It has been an honor serving as Evans’ principal, and I will bring with me the knowledge I gained from working with that wonderful community.”

Jackson holds a bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary studies (early childhood) from Texas Wesleyan University and a master’s degree in educational administration from Lamar University.
