McKinney, Texas — McKinney ISD is excited to announce that longtime McKinney North High School Principal Jae Gaskill has been named MISD Director of Career and Technical Education (CTE). Gaskill brings 32 years of experience in education to the position with some 25 years in administrative leadership. She has served for the past 8 years as principal of McKinney North.

The move from high school campus to district administration follows the recent retirement announcement of Sr. Director of CTE Todd Young.

Gaskill began her career as a science teacher and coach but soon transitioned into administration, serving four years as a house principal at the Lowery Freshmen Center in Allen ISD and then for the next four years as a house principal at Allen High School.

In 2007, she brought that experience to MISD where she was hired as the McKinney North associate principal. “This role provided me the opportunity to learn and grow as a teacher leader as well as helping me develop a full understanding of the interconnectedness of the programs across the campus,” said Gaskill.

Following the retirement of Principal Jimmy Spann in 2016, Gaskill was the choice for principal of McKinney North. “Leading the students and staff of McKinney North has been a major highlight of my career,” said Gaskill. “My goal has always been to create an environment that feels like home, develop a lifelong joy of learning, and prepare our students to be competitive in life after high school.”

Now, she brings her extensive knowledge of campus programs to the CTE position, a role that will allow her leadership to reach beyond the campus level and across the district.

“I am looking forward to working with campus leaders, CTE teachers, business partnerships, and state organizations in a way that will support student success as well as positively impact our community,” she said. “There is no better place to be than McKinney ISD for a place that feels like home, values the joy of learning, and understands the importance of preparing our students to excel in life after high school.”

Gaskill earned a bachelor’s degree in science from Stephen F. Austin University and master’s degree in education from Texas A&M University – Commerce.
