Child Guidance Partnership with Preschool—McKinney ISD Media (September 19, 2023)

McKinney, Texas — “It’s so encouraging to hear them say ‘next year I’m going to go and get an education degree or get a child development degree.’ It’s the best part of the job, seeing those high schoolers find their passion in education.” – Hannah Byrd – McKinney Boyd Preschool Supervisor

McKinney ISD strives to provide real-world experiences, and for students at each one of our high schools, practical knowledge in early childhood education is just down the hallway. Students taking Childhood Guidance courses from our Career & Technology Program (CTE) spend several hours a week at the campus preschool, gleaning skills from the teachers and developing relationships with children. This partnership lends extra “hands” to help care for the toddlers and equips the teenagers with potential career skills.
