Transcript

Hello! My name is Stephanie O’Dell, and I serve on the McKinney ISD School Board. Each month, after our board meeting, we will provide our community with a brief summary of events and items covered during the meeting.

McKinney ISD’s Board of Trustees meeting on November 13, 2023 is in the books. I want to share with you a few highlights from our meeting.

We started the meeting with celebrations and recognitions. This month’s We Are McKinney Superintendent award winners are Ebonee Walls and Lisa Witt. These two are recognized for performing a heroic act for someone in need. They performed and assisted with the heimlich for someone in need.

We recognized McKinney High School Percussion Ensemble’s performance at PASIC. We also recognized our Cross Country State Qualifiers from McKinney North and McKinney Boyd High School.

Superintendent Pratt thanked the board for their commitment to Safety and Security. We now have an armed security officer, or ASO, on every elementary campus. We recognized the ASO’s in the board meeting and thanked them for their service to McKinney.

Following our recognitions, Dr. Shelly Spaulding, Assistant Superintendent, discussed the proposed 24-25 school district calendar. The 2024-2025 school calendar was approved.

Then Marlene Harbeson, Chief Financial Officer, shared the 23-24 budget book. The budget book is an optional report that McKinney ISD chose to produce in an effort to provide even more financial transparency. She acknowledged Stacy Stanfield, Senior Director of Finance/Cash Management for her work on creating the budget book.

The school board adopted a resolution regarding adequate funding for public schools.
