Dowell Middle School Bond Update - August 2022, Athletic track resurfacing

Dowell Middle School’s athletic track was resurfaced using funds from the 2021 bond. In addition, all schools are receiving improvements in the following areas: safety and security (cameras, lock-down buttons, and infrastructure), and technology (network systems, data storage, public-address systems, bell systems, clocks, and audio/visual equipment).

Glen Jackson, Boys Athletics Coordinator We are very, very thankful to have a new track. The old one had served its purpose and definitely needed to be replaced. The new track allows our student athletes to take advantage of the specific markings needed in track. For example, the markings for hurdles are important because our runners have a specific amount of steps they have to take between hurdles. Now, we have the correct spacing between hurdles to prepare for our races.
