Good afternoon and happy sunny summer! Here's an indoor activity that you could try with your Sea Lion this week. Enjoy!
Build a Blanket Fort
The "Glow Cave" (Night Sky Theme): Use a dark sheet or blanket for the roof. Inside, line the floor with pillows and string up battery-operated fairy lights or push-button tap lights. You can even stick glow-in-the-dark stars to the underside of the blankets.
The Tunnel Maze: Instead of one big room, use the dining room chairs lined up in a row to create a long, low tunnel. Preschoolers love crawling through tight spaces, and it doubles as an obstacle course.
The Book Nook: Keep it simple by draping a large sheet over a flipped-over couch or a table. Fill the inside with a mountain of pillows, a basket of their favorite picture books, and a small flashlight so they can look at the pictures in the dark.

Happy Monday Sea Lions. It's time for another screen-free activity that you can do at home with your family.
Make Homemade Popsicles
The Science: You start with a liquid (juice, blended fruit, or yogurt) that takes the shape of its container. After time in the freezer, it turns into a hard solid that holds its own shape.
Taste Test: Use different flavors and have your child close their eyes to guess what they taste and/or the color of their popsicle.
The Melting Race: Put one popsicle on a plate in the shade and one in the sun. Ask your preschooler to predict (hypothesize) which one will melt back into a liquid first.
Enjoy!

Welcome to Summer! We'd love to post some at-home ideas for you and your Sea Lion.
This summer is all about trying new things, making happy memories, spending time together, and having fun away from screens.
Here is our first week's installment. Enjoy!
HAVE AN OUTDOOR PICNIC
"Bear Hunt" Teddy Bear Picnic: Have your preschooler bring along their favorite stuffed animal. Before eating, hide the stuffed animals around the picnic area (behind a tree, under a bench) and go on a "bear hunt" to find them.
Red Light, Green Light: A classic game that is perfect for burning off energy in a big grassy field before sitting down to eat.
Cloud Shaping: Lay flat on your backs on the picnic blanket, look up at the sky, and take turns pointing out what shapes, animals, or objects the clouds look like. This is great for vocabulary building and imagination.

Happy School Nurses Day! We absolutely love and appreciate you Nurse Beaverson! Thank you for your kind heart and warm care for our students at Lawson. We couldn't do it without you.

Last week we were thrilled to celebrate our Bus Drivers here at Lawson. We are so grateful for their care and love for our wonderful students! We couldn't do it without them.

“I started thinking, ‘What do I want to do with the rest of my life now that I’m out of the military? What is purposeful and impactful to me?’ And so I looked at education.”

We can do this, Sea Lions! Every Tuesday in April and May is "No Tardies Tuesday"! Pre-K and Head Start drop off is 7:25. ECSE is 7:15 and 11:35. We'll see you then! Can't wait!

Thank you Sea Lions for your participation in the HEB plastic Bag Challenge. Last year we were able to raise over 4,000 bags. THIS year you all outshined our number with 8,003 BAGS!!!!!!
Thank you to all who donated. HEB will, in return, give us a gift card of $250 that we will use for our Teacher Appreciation Week in May. So grateful and thankful.

Lawson had an amazing presentation today with our Bubble Squad! The students were in awe of the science behind bubbles and predicted what might happen if various wands, solutions, and materials were used in order to make bubbles.

We have the BEST staff at Lawson! We're so excited to announce that these two ladies are representing our school with this well deserved honor. Congratulations Jessica Piecek and Stacie Doss!

We had the best on-campus field trip to the blue pod this week for a exciting sing-a-long. We loved singing songs together and learning about various instruments. #wearemckinneyisd

Enjoy this time with family and friends. See you in December!

October was principal's month and, as you know, we have the BEST! Thank you for all that you do Mrs. Towber!

This fall weather is making our outdoor classroom the place to be. We are also enjoying all things pumpkins! Have a great week!

School Holiday coming up! Fall Break Oct 13-17.

October has already been a busy month, celebrating some of the most important people on our staff here at Lawson! We loved spoiling Lupita and Maria with breakfast and lunch on October 2nd to show them how much we appreciate their hard work and effort into Lawson for National Custodian Day. Then October 7th we recognized a special position at Lawson, Instructional Coach. Emily Black provides not only excellent, knowledgeable support to our staff but she has already made such an impact with our students her first year at Lawson. Congrats to our amazing staff this month! Sea Lion Proud!

We had another wonderful week at Lawson!
Have a great weekend Sea Lions.

We had a fun time at Popsicles in the Park on Thursday! Thanks for coming out and celebrating with us!
Have a great weekend.
