EARLY VOTING - Oct. 17–30 | ELECTION DAY - Tuesday, Nov. 3
McKinney ISD residents will vote on five propositions on Tuesday, November 3, 2026.
Total bond package: $500 million across four bond propositions, plus one tax-ratification proposition. In August, McKinney ISD lowered the total tax rate by almost 4 cents. All four bond propositions can be funded within this lower tax rate.
Multiple Board-chartered committees of residents, parents, staff and taxpayers studied the district's facilities and finances for more than a year before any proposal reached the ballot.
Long Range Facility Planning Committee (LRFPC)
Convened by Board resolution adopted August 26, 2024.
Charged with recommending long-range building and property efficiencies, campus programming, feeder patterns, attendance boundaries, and right-sizing or retiring campuses based on current and projected enrollment.
Met six times: October 29 and November 19, 2024; December 17, 2024; January 14, February 20, and March 25, 2025 — producing the Long Range Facility Master Plan (2025).
Transitioned to the Bond Planning Committee with some members remaining and some new members being added. The Bond Planning Committee also met six times: April 1 and April 15, 2025; May 6, 2025; August 7, 2025, and April 13 and April 27, 2026.
Educational Facilities Alignment Committee (EFAC)
Charged with studying projected student enrollment, campus capacity, transportation and infrastructure, and the geographic location of planned development, then recommending new attendance zones to the Board.
Met eight times, with two dedicated public input sessions on October 21 and December 4.
Findings: residential growth in the northwest and northeast is driving overcrowding at Frazier, Press and Webb Elementary, while elementary enrollment in the southwest and southeast has declined. Scott Johnson Middle School and McKinney North High School face enrollment pressure; the other four middle schools and two high schools are declining.
Both the Strategic Planning Committee and the LRFPC recommended updating attendance boundaries and repurposing under-used campuses to avoid the operational and staffing costs of half-empty buildings.
