Burks Elementary School has been in the giving spirit this holiday season. The school worked together and collected 785 blankets, toys and other items to donate to the Collin County Animal Shelter. Special congratulations goes to the 3rd Grade class who won the “Golden Bone Award” for collecting the most items. The school’s 5th grade student leadership group, led the event, counted the items, announced the winner, and loaded the items to take to the shelter! This was Burks’ 10th year of organizing this event for the CCAS. Way to go Eagles!
The annual MacTown Miracles holiday food drive culminated yesterday with the assembling of nearly 900 complete holiday dinners at McKinney North High School. A combined effort among the student councils at North, McKinney High School and McKinney Boyd High School, MacTown Miracles is truly a districtwide effort that will benefit families in need who otherwise would not have a holiday turkey dinner.
Central Office staff have been treated to a lot of great music this holiday season by MISD fine arts students, and Tuesday was no exception as Dowell Middle School brought their orchestra, band and choir to the steps of the administration building! Thank you, Dowell Middle School for sharing your musical talents with us! You did a fantastic job!
