Welcome to the 2022-23 school year. This newsletter serves as a resource for parents as they begin to prepare for the upcoming school year. Please remember that the first day of school for the 2022-23 school year is Wednesday, August 10, 2022.
If parents need additional assistance, beyond what is covered in this newsletter, please contact us at [email protected] or 469-302-4000.
New student registration is currently available for all grade levels. High school and middle school registration is by appointment. Prior to visiting the campus, it is recommended that parents complete the online registration forms for each new student. Click here for more information about new student registration.
Returning student registration information was emailed to parents of individual students the week of June 6th with a unique snap code that is needed to begin the online registration process for that student. Note: Parents may not have received snap codes for all of their students at the same time. Click here for more information about returning student registration.
McKinney ISD is committed to providing a safe environment for students, staff, and visitors. Our campuses maintain controlled access to the buildings at all times. Visitors must enter through the campus front office before gaining access to the rest of the building. Intercom and video systems at the visitor entry point allow school staff to communicate with visitors and verify the nature of their visit prior to allowing entry into the building.
Front Entry Procedures
MISD office hours are 8 a.m. to 4:15 p.m., Mon. through Fri.

MISD school supply lists are different depending on which campus your student will attend. Each campus maintains their own supply lists. MISD high schools do not maintain a campus wide supply list. COVID-19 will remain a reportable and excludable condition according to TAC 97.7, TEA and Collin County Health Department. The symptoms for COVID-19 exclusion remain unchanged.
COVID-19 should be suspected if:
one of the following symptoms: Cough, shortness of breath, difficulty breathing, change in taste or smell
OR
Two of the following symptoms: fever (measured or subjective), chills, rigors, myalgia, headache, sore throat, nausea or vomiting, diarrhea, fatigue, congestion or runny nose
AND
No alternative diagnosis more likely
Students/Parents – If not feeling well please keep your child home and notify your campus and campus nurse. There are many other illnesses that are also excludable for both staff and students and staying home helps mitigate the spread of all contagious illnesses. COVID-19 is still reportable, so continue to let your campus nurse know of any cases. Students with symptoms of COVID-19 (until ruled out), or a confirmed diagnosis of COVID-19, must quarantine for 5 days from the date of symptom onset or positive test result. If symptoms continue after Day 5, the isolation period will continue up to 10 days or until symptoms improve.
MISD will continue the use of communicable disease guidelines, hand sanitizing stations, clinic isolation areas, and frequent sanitizing and cleaning of buildings. Masks will be available upon request.
By law, McKinney ISD must have an immunization record for each student on file. These records must be up-to-date at the time of registration. Students entering MISD for the first time must present written verification of the required immunizations at the time of enrollment.
For more information about what immunizations are required please visit the Immunizations page in the Health Services & Wellness section of the website.

Texas back to school shoppers get a break from state and local sales taxes August 5-7. The law exempts most clothing, footwear, school supplies and backpacks priced under $100.
