Welcome to the 2023-24 school year! This newsletter serves as a resource for parents as they begin to prepare for the start of school. Please remember that the first day of school for 2023-24 is Wednesday, August 9, 2023.
If parents need additional assistance beyond what is covered in this newsletter, please contact us at [email protected] or 469-302-4000.
New student registration is currently available for all grade levels. High school and middle school registration is by appointment. Prior to visiting the campus, it is recommended that parents complete the online registration forms for each new student. Click here for more information about new student registration.
Returning student registration information was emailed to parents of individual students the week of June 12 with a unique snap code that is needed to begin the online registration process for that student. Note: Parents may not have received snap codes for all their students at the same time. Click here for more information about returning student registration.
McKinney ISD is committed to providing a safe environment for students, staff, and visitors. Our campuses maintain controlled access to the buildings at all times. Visitors must enter through the campus front office before being admitted to the rest of the building. Intercom and video systems at the visitor entry point allow school staff to communicate with visitors and verify the nature of their visit prior to allowing entry into the building.
Front Entry Procedures
MISD office hours are 8 a.m. to 4:15 p.m., Monday – Friday
Elementary school hours are 8 a.m. to 3:07 p.m., Monday – Friday

MISD school supply lists are different depending on which campus your student will attend. Each campus maintains their own supply lists. MISD high schools do not maintain a campus-wide supply list. High school students receive their school supply information during the first week of classes in August.
For information about your school’s supply lists please check the school’s website or call the front office.
MISD will add the annual 1:World laptop program assurance fee for students in grades 6–12 to HAC accounts on August 1.
The fee is $74 or $37 for students receiving free/reduced lunch. The assurance fee covers laptop usage for students in grades 6–12. Upon the first incident, MISD will charge a deductible/repair fee of $50 to cover accidental damage, theft, fire, water damage or vandalism. Additional incidents will incur a repair fee of $125. Students who haven’t paid the annual assurance fee will be accountable for the full cost of any repairs or damage.
Payments can be made to the campus bookkeeper by cash or check. Online payment is available through the Payschools Central system using debit or credit card. To learn more about the student laptop program, please visit the MISD 1:World Website.
By law, McKinney ISD must have an immunization record for each student on file. These records must be up to date at the time of registration. Students entering MISD for the first time must present written verification of the required immunizations at the time of enrollment.
For more information about what immunizations are required please visit the Immunizations page in the Health Services & Wellness section of the website.
The following over-the-counter medications are kept in the clinic with standing physician orders: antifungal cream, caladryl clear, calamine, first aid cream, hydrocortisone cream, mentholated rub, moisture eye drops, saline solution and petroleum jelly.
McKinney ISD has standing physician orders for the emergency use of unassigned epinephrine for signs and symptoms of anaphylaxis, albuterol for respiratory distress and Narcan (Naloxone) for known or suspected opioid overdose by the trained MISD staff member. Any resulting EMS or 911 fees based on the administration of these medications would be the responsibility of the parent or guardian.
For more information, visit the Health Information and Forms page in the Health Services & Wellness section of the website.
MISD Childcare Programs offer a wide variety of childcare options for children ranging in age from 6 weeks to 12 years. Programs include Club 360 After School, Holiday Care, Summer Camp, Infant and Toddler Care at Lawson and Preschool Programs at MHS, MNHS and MBHS.
For details about each of these programs, please visit the Childcare & After-School Programs section of the MISD website.
MISD Childcare is hiring for the 2023-2024 School year
The Childcare Programs department currently has part time and full-time positions available for Club 360 and the Employee Childcare Center at McKinney High School. These positions are great for high school/college students who need to earn a little extra income. Hours work well with a school schedule, require no weekends and offer competitive hourly pay rates.
For additional information regarding employment opportunities, please contact Johana Diego at [email protected].
McKinney ISD teams with Durham School Services to transport students to school safely, on time and ready to learn each day. Part of this service includes an online Bus Route Locator that parents can use to determine where and when our buses stop each day.
For more information about MISD’s bus services, please visit the Transportation section of the MISD website.
McKinney ISD maintains district Facebook, Twitter and YouTube pages to keep parents and the community informed about the great things happening in MISD. In addition to these district level social media pages, each campus also maintains both a Facebook and Twitter page. To find your campus’s social media page please visit your campus’s website or contact your campus’s front office.
