MEET THE TEACHER NIGHT - MONDAY, AUGUST 10, 2026
Join us for Meet the Teacher night on Monday, August 10 from 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm! You will have a chance to tour the school, visit with your child's teacher, and drop off your school supplies! If you pre-ordered school supplies through the PTA over the summer, those will there waiting for your student!

Minshew Elementary had a fantastic time at MISD's Convocation with the theme of "Game Day"! We were thrilled when Minshew's 3rd grade teacher, Brooke Hancock, was selected to kick a field goal to win $500 for her classroom! Luckily, she was able to select a student from MHS to kick the field goal on her behalf at the last minute.

Day 2 of Academy Week - Our First Grade team engaged in professional learning with MISD's reading and math coordinators. This team can't wait to welcome their 1st graders in just a few days!

Our team is gearing up for an amazing school year! Teachers are spending time at the Digital Leadership Academy learning, collaborating, and exploring innovative ways to enhance teaching and learning. From new technology tools to engaging instructional strategies, they are investing in professional growth to create meaningful learning experiences for every student. We can't wait to bring these new ideas back to our classrooms and make the 2026–2027 school year our best yet!

Today, some of our Minshew teachers participated in professional learning centered on The New Art and Science of Teaching. Through collaboration, reflection, and meaningful discussions, they explored research-based strategies designed to increase student engagement, strengthen learning, and support academic success.

We are excited to bring these ideas into our classrooms and continue creating engaging learning experiences that help every student thrive. Thank you to our dedicated teachers for investing their time and energy into continuous growth and learning!

Summer break is here, but learning continues!
Our teachers are spending part of their summer participating in professional development, learning new strategies and growing their skills to create the best possible experiences for students next year.

The First Grade Reading Café was such a special celebration of learning, growth, and creativity! We truly have the best students, families, and staff at Minshew. Thank you for making moments like these so meaningful!

Our first graders worked so hard this year, and it was wonderful to see them proudly share their reading and writing with their families. Thank you to our teachers and families for encouraging and supporting our students each day!

Our Student Council is buzzing with excitement for their fundraiser!

Students can purchase tickets for just 50¢ each for a chance to pie a teacher in the face! Tickets will be sold before school each morning from 7:40–8:00.

All proceeds will help support and grow our butterfly garden. Thank you for helping our StuCo make our campus even more beautiful while having a little fun along the way!

First grade had their Reading Café! What a lovely way for our first graders to share their growth in reading and writing this year. We are so grateful for our amazing Minshew families for supporting our teachers and encouraging their children every step of the way!

Slam Dunk Award Winner!
Mrs. Weldele is a strong team leader who consistently leads the way in PLC process. She uses data to guide instruction, meets each student’s individual needs, and goes above and beyond to support both staff and students. Because of her dedication and leadership, success at Minshew is stronger than ever. Way to go, Mrs. Weldele is a true slam dunk!

Bree Bakke is the 2026 Teacher of the Year for Minshew Elementary. She teaches 1st grade, and she has worked as an educator for 14 years.
