When it comes to our youngest learners, celebrate the "practice" of reading. Reading for our littles can be simply looking at the illustrations and imagining a story. This takes courage. Build them up at every attempt. Their courage will transform into confidence.

McGowen is so excited to start buddy classrooms once a month! This past month each classroom was paired with a buddy class to do activities. Our buddy classes were established to promote leadership, positive student mentorship, and a sense of belonging for all of our students. ❤️

Amy Arnold is the 2025 Teacher of the Year for McGowen Elementary. She is an art teacher, and she has worked as an educator for 18 years.
