Welcome Mireya Duarte, Malvern's new Dyslexia Specialist. Ms. Duarte says: "With 20 years of experience in education, I have taught students from kindergarten through third grade in general education, primarily within McKinney ISD. This will be my third year as a Dyslexia Specialist serving students in grades K–5.

As a proud resident of McKinney, I cherish everything this beautiful city has to offer. I’m the mother of a wonderful young lady (15 years old) and an amazing college freshman, happily married to a fantastic husband, and I share my home with two delightful dogs. In my spare time, I enjoy family gatherings, watching films, taking walks, listening to music, dancing, and singing.

I am thrilled to return to Malvern and to be part of this amazing team of educators. I eagerly anticipate the incredible impact we will make together in the lives of the children entrusted to us."

Hey Red Hawks... it's National Macaroni & Cheese Day!

I've been thinking... if there were a contest for the cheesiest lunch, macaroni and cheese would definitely take first place! 🏆

Whether you like it creamy, extra cheesy, or topped with a crunchy sprinkle, today is the perfect excuse to enjoy one of America's favorite comfort foods.

Now I've got an important question for all my Red Hawk friends...

Do you eat your macaroni and cheese with a spoon or a fork?

Drop your answer in the comments and let's see which one wins!

Have a gouda day, Red Hawks! (See what I did there? 😄)

❤️,
Rocky the Red Hawk

We are excited to welcome a former Malvern student to our team!

"Hello! My name is Ashley Magno, and I am incredibly honored to become part of the Malvern Red Hawk family!

I was born and raised in McKinney ,Texas, and Malvern holds a very special place in my heart because it was my childhood elementary school. Returning as a teacher feels like a true full-circle moment, as this is the place that first inspired my passion for education and my dream of becoming a teacher!

I am a proud first-generation graduate of UT Austin (Hook ’em!) with a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. During my time in college, I fell in love with the city of Austin and still try to visit whenever I can with family and friends. There's always something new to experience, and I love the city's energy, culture, diversity, and strong sense of community!

Outside of the classroom, I enjoy exploring new coffee shops (I'm a self-proclaimed coffee enthusiast!), attending concerts, traveling, and spending quality time with friends and family.

I am excited to begin this new chapter at Malvern Elementary and to give back to the school that first inspired me to become a teacher. I look forward to supporting my students' growth, building meaningful connections, and creating a classroom filled with learning, laughter, and unforgettable memories. I cannot wait to meet my students and their families and make this a wonderful year together!"
