Welcome toMcKInney BOyd

WE ARE THE BRONCOS
McKinney Boyd High School was established in 2006 as McKinney ISD’s third high school, opening its doors to students in response to the city’s rapid growth and expanding enrollment. Located on North Lake Forest Drive, the campus welcomed its first students in August 2006 and graduated its inaugural senior class in 2008.
The school's name honors the legacy of the original Boyd High School, which opened in 1914 and was named after Mary Elizabeth Crane Boyd. Mrs. Boyd provided funding to furnish the original school when district resources were limited, leaving a lasting impact on public education in McKinney. By reviving the Boyd name, McKinney ISD connected a new generation of students to a proud educational tradition dating back more than a century.
McKinney Boyd's story is closely tied to the growth of the City of McKinney. Founded in 1848 and named after Collin McKinney, a signer of the Texas Declaration of Independence, McKinney has grown from a small agricultural community into one of the fastest-growing and most desirable cities in the United States. Known for its historic downtown, strong economy, family-friendly neighborhoods, and commitment to education, McKinney has consistently been recognized as one of the best places to live in America. The city's growth and investment in public education have helped shape McKinney ISD into one of Texas's premier school districts.
As McKinney Boyd celebrates its 20th anniversary during the 2025-26 school year, the campus reflects on two decades of academic excellence, championship performances, outstanding fine arts programs, and strong community support. Since its opening, generations of Broncos have built a tradition defined by achievement, service, leadership, and school pride.
Today, McKinney Boyd serves approximately 2,750 students in grades 9–12, making it one of the largest and most vibrant high schools in McKinney ISD. The diverse student body participates in a wide range of academic, athletic, fine arts, and extracurricular programs that contribute to a culture of excellence and opportunity.
To ensure the campus continues to meet the needs of future students, McKinney Boyd recently underwent significant renovations and facility improvements as part of McKinney ISD's bond program. The upgrades modernized learning spaces, enhanced safety and security features, refreshed common areas, upgraded technology infrastructure, and improved athletic and extracurricular facilities. These investments preserve the school's legacy while creating a modern learning environment designed to support student success for decades to come.
Today, McKinney Boyd High School stands as a symbol of growth, tradition, and innovation—honoring its history while preparing Broncos for the future. As the school enters its third decade, it continues to embody the spirit of "We Are the Broncos," building upon a legacy of excellence while inspiring the next generation of students to learn, lead, and achieve.
Through these hallowed halls,
let our voices ring,
Songs of courage,
songs of pride.
Ever fearless champions we must be,
Bronco spirit never dies.
As we leave this place we will not forget,
we will always honor you.
We will fight for victory evermore,
for the Broncos red and blue!
