“Raise your hand if you were teaching back when chalkboards were considered high tech?”
That seems like a crazy question unless you are addressing the audience of a 100-year celebration, which was the case this past January for Finch Elementary. Current teachers and students along with former students and staff gathered to celebrate the school’s one hundredth anniversary of being named after the legendary educator, Fanny Finch.
We are thrilled to share that Ms. Stokx and Mrs. Horswill were recognized at Monday night’s School Board meeting with the Superintendent Award!
Their dedication, hard work, and unwavering commitment to our students shine every single day, and we are so proud to see them honored for the incredible impact they make at Finch Elementary.

Students shared readings and heartfelt messages of gratitude as we recognized the veterans in our community. It was a meaningful morning filled with pride, respect, and appreciation for those who protect our freedom.

We had such a great night with families completing acts of kindness!

Let’s fill our halls with gratitude and joy this season!
Today, Monday (Nov 3), we are launching our annual Raise Craze PTO fundraiser! It will run from Monday Nov 2 through Friday, Nov 14. Our goal is to raise $5,000. Here are a few of the things we did last year with the funds we raised, and we will do similar things this year:
- Sponsor the 1st grade field trip to the Heard Museum and the Kinder field trip to the Crayola Experience
- Show teachers our appreciation during teacher appreciation week!
- Provide a breakfast for teachers for their first day back at school
- Help pay for school supplies
Today, your child will be sent home with a flier with instructions and a QR code to register your student with Raise Craze. We would LOVE to have every student registered so we can track all of the awesome acts of kindness your kids are doing! There will be numerous opportunities at school and at home to do acts of kindness (like our PTO-sponsored Family Service Night on Nov 4 @ 4:30 at the school). In addition to tracking acts of kindness, you can donate money through the Raise Craze portal. If we receive just a $15 donation per student, we'll meet our fundraising goal!
Also, tomorrow November 4th we will have a family service night. We will create placemats for Meals on Wheels, signing/coloring a thank you poster for our firefighters, and we will paint kindness rocks with kind messages written on them so we can give them to anyone that needs a kind note!

Our annual Trunk or Treat is right around the corner (Tues, Oct 21), and we need your help to make it sweet!
We’re asking families to donate bags of candy to help fill our trunks for this fun event. Donations can be dropped off in the front office any time between now and the big night!
