Players from McKinney Chupacabras FC visited Faubion Middle School on Tuesday to serve as guest judges for a 6th-grade World Cultures team project connecting the upcoming FIFA World Cup with local sports management. The project called on students to act as design executives by incorporating diverse cultural elements into team logos displayed on custom merchandise.
Chupacabras players Ty Reynolds, Dylan Culbertson, Cole Ramsey and Brayden Beason talked with each group about their project and chose the top three — Argentina, New Zealand and Ecuador — based on how effectively and accurately they integrated international cultural heritage into modern sports marketing.
And, last week, in celebration of this community partnership, the Chupacabras provided free tickets to Faubion to their home game against the Denton Diablos this past Saturday. The Chupacabras won 2-1! In fact, Chupacabras players have visited every McKinney ISD elementary PE class over the past two weeks to offer complimentary tickets, meet the kids and promote healthy physical activity.
Thank you, McKinney Chupacabras, for supporting our students!

May is Speech-Language-Hearing Month, and we want to thank our wonderful speech pathologists! The speech language pathology field grew in the 1920’s as speech pathologists focused on treating soldiers returning from war. Today, throughout America, over 119,000 speech language pathologists work in a variety of fields. You’ll find speech language pathologists in hospitals, rehabilitation facilities, nursing homes, schools, early intervention settings, universities and private practices. Thank you for the truly impactful work that you do with our McKinney ISD students!

Cockrill Middle School student India Griffith has been such an inspiration to the entire campus this year. India is a published author who lives with cerebral palsy. Her book, “India Can! A Story about Big Dreams and Brave Hearts,” is her way of sharing her story with the world. India’s mission is not just to talk about disability, but to celebrate strength, kindness, learning, and limitless possibility. Through her words, she hopes to inspire confidence in children who feel different and encourage understanding.
India’s courage and creativity are exactly what we mean when we say, “We Are McKinney ISD!”
