McKinney, Texas (December 15, 2025) — After months of careful study, discussion, and extensive community input, the McKinney ISD Board of Trustees has approved a comprehensive realignment plan that will establish new elementary, middle school, and high school attendance boundaries beginning in the 2026-2027 school year. This action is part of the district’s long-range facility and financial strategy designed to balance enrollment, optimize facility use, and ensure continued excellence across all MISD campuses.

The realignment plan reflects years of strategic planning and collaboration with community stakeholders, including more than 300 parents, staff, students, and community members who served on the district’s Strategic Planning Committee and Long-Range Facility Planning Committee.

Realignment Maps Released for All Grade Levels

With the Board’s approval, McKinney ISD is releasing new attendance maps for elementary, middle school, and high school campuses. These maps are available on the district website and will be shared directly with impacted families:

• Elementary School Attendance Map 4

• Middle School Attendance Map 5

• High School Attendance Map 4

The realignment plan is designed to balance enrollment across campuses and to address the enrollment growth in the North and the declining enrollment in the South of McKinney ISD.

Taking Care of Students and Families

In the coming months, the district will begin implementing a comprehensive transition plan to support students and families as they prepare for the new realignment plan. This plan includes welcome events, orientation activities, campus tours, and ongoing communication to ensure students feel connected, supported, and prepared for the transition.

You can expect an email with your student(s) zoned campus for the 2026-2027 school year this week. Students impacted by the realignment will receive priority consideration on transfer requests, subject to space availability. Additionally, we will allow grandfathering for students who will be in grades 5, 8, and 12 in the 2026-2027 school year.

Continuing Excellence and Community Connection

“Our top priority remains unchanged—to ensure that every child in McKinney ISD feels safe, supported, and connected,” said Superintendent Pratt. “As we implement the realignment plan, our focus continues to be on meeting the needs of students, supporting our staff, and finishing this school year strong.”

Gratitude and Community Partnership

“We are deeply grateful for the trust and partnership of our families, staff, and community,” Superintendent Pratt added. “While these changes are challenging, they are critical to securing the long-term success and stability of McKinney ISD and ensuring that we continue to serve all students with excellence.”
