McKinney, Texas — McKinney High School Assistant Principal Robert Quach has been recognized with statewide awards from both the Texas Association of Secondary School Principals (TASSP) and the Texas Association of Journalism Educators (TAJE) for his exceptional leadership and advocacy in education.

The Texas Association of Secondary School Principals selected Quach as a Region 10 Outstanding Assistant Principal of the Year. Now, as a Region 10 winner, Quach is eligible to compete for the state title of Texas Assistant Principal of the Year. A campus administrator with 13 years of leadership experience, Quach is beginning his 20th year in public education and has been a member of the leadership team at MHS since 2022.

Quach sees himself as a collaborative leader, visionary and advocate for student-centered learning. He is credited with numerous achievements, including implementing restorative practices, improving support systems for Special Education and English Learners, leading professional learning communities and fostering a campus culture rooted in equity and academic excellence.

“This honor reflects the collective work of the amazing students, staff and leaders I’m privileged to serve alongside every day,” Quach said. “I believe leadership is about building trust, creating access and empowering people to grow.”

Quach will be recognized at the TASSP Jostens Night of the Stars Awards Dinner during the Summer Workshop in June 2026.

Additionally, the Texas Association of Journalism Educators named Quach the 2025 Administrator of the Year, honoring his outstanding support of scholastic journalism across Texas.

Nominated by MHS journalism adviser Karla Romero Páramo, Quach was praised for his consistent encouragement of student media, his presence in journalism classrooms and his commitment to empowering student voices. Romero described him as “a servant leader who makes time for student journalists, understands the power of student storytelling and leads with calm integrity and genuine care.”

Quach will be honored at the TAJE Fall Fiesta Convention on Monday, October 20, at the Henry B. González Convention Center in San Antonio, where he will address student journalists and advisers from across the state.

“I’m incredibly honored to receive this recognition from TAJE,” Quach said. “Student journalism is a vital part of our schools. It gives students agency, builds critical thinking and helps shape the culture of our communities. I’m proud to support the incredible work our student journalists and advisers do every day.”
