McKinney, Texas — McKinney ISD and the McKinney Chamber of Commerce welcomed MISD's new teachers and staff members at the 2025 New Hire Welcome Breakfast at McKinney High School on July 30!
MISD Superintendent Shawn Pratt, members of the Board of Trustees and MISD administrators were on hand to greet the district's newcomers, and nearly 60 McKinney businesses and organizations filled the MHS concourse with tables and booths that were bursting with information and giveaways.
Inside the Performing Arts Center, the new teachers and staff were welcomed by Chamber President Lisa Hermes, McKinney Mayor Pro Tem and City Council member Dr. Geré Feltus, MISD Board Vice President Harvey Oaxaca and Brandon Tomes of Tomes Auto Group—who served as Presenting Sponsor of the event.
The MHS Marine Corps JROTC brought forth the colors for the national anthem before the MHS Desi Dance Beat took the stage, followed by the MHS cheerleaders, Marquettes and Drum Line.
The program concluded with remarks from Superintendent Shawn Pratt who thanked the newcomers for choosing MISD and for investing in students as MISD seeks to reach Every Student, Every Day. "We know it's not an easy job," he said. "There are going be days that are challenging, but there will also be those days that fill your cup until it is overflowing."
As the summer of 2025 winds to a close, these new employees join the MISD teachers, administrators and support staff preparing to get the 2025-2026 school year underway.
And, it's going to be an amazing year.
