McKinney, Texas — The final days of the school year have arrived, and that means it is time for two McKinney ISD teachers to drive off into summer behind the wheel of a new car.

On Thursday, May 15, MISD Elementary Teacher of the Year Jaclyn Harrison from Valley Creek Elementary and Secondary Teacher of the Year Tiffany Scott from Scott Johnson Middle School took part in the annual tradition that began well over a decade ago, courtesy of El Dorado Chevrolet & Mazda in McKinney.

"It's a great day for us because we are honoring the two Teachers of the Year from McKinney ISD," said Jas Gill, El Dorado general sales manager. "We are providing them each with a vehicle to drive, and we are honored to do that. It's all about the kids, and it's all about the teachers."

Harrison chose a new Mazda CX-5 while Scott opted for a lovely 2026 Chevy Equinox Activ.

Both Harrison and Scott were moved by the gesture.

"Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think this would ever happen," said Harrison. "It's an incredible experience, and I am very grateful."

"It means so much that Eldorado Chevrolet supports teachers and supports our community," added Scott. "They're a pillar in our community, and for an award winning car dealership to be the one to step up and say, 'We're not going to just make this about us. We're going to share our excellence with McKinney Independent School District,' it means a lot."

And, that is a great way to head into summer.
