Visitors & Volunteers
McKinney ISD prioritizes the safety and security of its students and staff, which directly influences the district's visitor policy. Here's a breakdown of our procedures:
Campus visits and activities:
Entering School Buildings: Visitors must enter through the front office and present a valid photo ID, such as a driver's license. Once entry is approved, visitors will be issued a badge identifying them and their purpose for the visit.
Lunch with Students: While background checks aren't necessary for this specific visit, you will need your driver's license to enter the building.
Volunteering, Field Trips, & Guest Speaking: A background check is mandatory for these activities to ensure student and staff safety. This check needs to be completed annually and covers all McKinney ISD campuses and buildings.
Background checks:
Annual Requirement: McKinney ISD requires a background check for every volunteer each school year.
District-Wide Coverage: One background check suffices for all volunteer activities across all MISD campuses, even if you have children at different schools.
Purpose: The background check helps ensure the safety and security of students and staff involved in various school activities.
