Online Accelerated Learning
McKinney ISD students in grades 8-12 have the option of accelerating their course work by taking additional courses online. Courses are taught by MISD teachers using MISD approved online curriculum. Courses can be accessed 24/7 for the duration of the term in a self paced format.
Course Offerings
Students may take courses approved by their campus counselor. As outlined in the Academic Planning Guide, courses taken online for acceleration do not factor into a students GPA.

Tuition Rates
$225 per course
$50 per course for students eligible for free/reduced lunch and students enrolled in the AVID elective.
Tuition is waived for full time MISD employees.
Registration and Payment
Contact your campus counselor. The campus counselor must approve your course request before you make payment online through My School Bucks or by cash or check to the campus bookkeeper.
Fall 2025 Online Acceleration Term
Registration Opens: August 1, 2025
Courses Begin: August 11, 2025
Registration Closes: December 3, 2025
Courses Close: January 5, 2026 at 3:00 PM.
All coursework including projects and exams must be completed by the deadline. No tuition refunds will be granted for students that do not complete their course work by the deadline. No extensions will be granted for students that do not complete their coursework by the deadline.
Spring 2026 Online Acceleration Term
Registration Opens: January 6, 2026
Courses Begin: January 14, 2026
Registration Closes: March 11, 2026
Courses Close: May 1 , 2026 at 3:00 PM.
