One to the World Student Devices

McKinney ISD’s ongoing commitment to student learning and engagement coupled with the diverse learning styles of 21st century students, created an opportunity to redefine the way our students collaborate, create and communicate. One to the World will support the design of lessons that meet the needs of digital learners both inside and outside the four walls of the traditional classroom.

Elementary Device Framework

Students in Grades PK-5 have access to devices at school. Elementary students at do not take devices home. 

Secondary Device Framework

Students in grades 6-12 are assigned a MacBook Air. The device travels from home to school. Students should bring the laptop fully charged to school each day and follow the guidelines in the One to the World Student/Parent Handbook.   

Annual Device Protection Plan

McKinney ISD offers an annual Device Protection Plan for $74 or $37 if the student is receiving free/reduced lunch. A deductible of $50 will be charged upon the first incident to cover accidental damage, theft, fire, water damage or vandalism. Additional incidents will be charged a deductible of $125. The Device Protection Plan does not cover deliberate damage or neglect. Students that have not paid for the Device Protection Plan will pay full price for any damage: 

The Device Protection Plan can be paid online through My School Bucks via debit or credit card or to the campus bookkeeper in the form of cash or check. 

Incident Fee Notification

Parents are notified through the help ticket system if their student has an incident and they owe a fee. Details about the damage are in the ticket. Parents can communicate with the technican through the ticket. Fees can be paid online through My School Bucks or by bringing a check or cash payment to the campus bookkeeper. 

Student Help Desk

If a student has an issue with their laptop and they need technology assistance, they should enter a ticket via the Student Help Desk located in the SSO portal. 

Lost or Stolen Devices

Lost devices should be reported to campus staff immediately. If a device is stolen, a police report will be required within 24 hours of reporting a theft of a device. 

Internet Safety

All district issued devices are filtered on and off campus in compliance with federal and state law. If a student attempts to access an inappropriate site, the filtering software blocks viewing of that site.
