Medical Consent Needed for New Texas Law
Recent changes in Texas law now require McKinney ISD to obtain additional parent/guardian consent before providing medical care through the school nurse or trained staff. The link below takes you to a consent form that is only available in English and Spanish. Parents can also access the consent form by logging into the SSO portal and choosing the MISD Parental Consent Form.
The language of the consent is below:
“ I agree and understand that the school nurse or other assigned staff may provide routine, health-related care services throughout the course of the school year. Signed medication forms(25/26), Individualized health plans(IHP)(25/26), or medical accommodations through the Individualized Education Plans(IEP), ARD or 504 will remain in force. I also agree that this includes that the district will seek appropriate emergency care for a student with or without consent, should it be deemed necessary.” YES or NO are the two choice options.
Once this form is filled out, a unique link is sent to guardian 1's email address that has the medical care verbiage as stated above. This form may only be completed by guardian #1. You must manually type your email into the consent box when prompted, not allow it to autofill. The email address must match the email address provided to MISD upon registration. Google Chrome is the preferred browser for compatibility.
