McKinney ISD Media Relations
McKinney ISD works cooperatively with the news media to provide coverage of issues and events involving the district, its students, and staff. MISD is also committed to providing students with a safe learning environment without unnecessary interruptions.
The following guidelines are in effect at all district campuses and facilities:
All media inquiries should be directed to the Communications Department. Exception: Routine athletic and fine arts coverage may be handled by the appropriate coach or sponsor.
The Communications department should be contacted first when a representative of the media visits a campus. If the media visits a McKinney ISD site without prior approval, they should be asked to leave and directed to contact the Communications Department at the Administration Building.
Media personnel may be allowed on campus to interview staff or students during the school day only with approval from the Communications Department and notification of the campus administrator.
Cameras/reporters will not be allowed in classrooms or on campus unless the teacher and/or appropriate staff members have been notified and the visit will not disrupt the learning environment.
Photographs or videos may be taken by the media at the discretion of the Communications department and campus administrator.
The Superintendent and/or Assistant Superintendent of Public Relations and Communications is the official spokesperson for McKinney ISD.
All media inquiries regarding McKinney ISD, district campuses, and district employees should be directed to the MISD Communications Department. If you would like to request public information, please visit our information requests page.
