Opportunities for Change Coming to MISD - 2026-2027
This past week was our regularly scheduled McKinney ISD School Board meeting. Each month, after the meeting, we create a School Board Summary Recap video to share highlights and important information that is discussed and presented within the meeting. You can find this month’s video recap here.
One of the big topics this month was the creation of the McKinney ISD Educational Facilities Alignment Committee. The purpose of the Educational Facilities Alignment Committee (EFAC) is to represent the McKinney ISD community in the study of data related to projected student enrollment, campus student capacity, transportation, current and planned transportation infrastructure, and geographic location of planned development in the district, in recommending to the Board of Trustees new attendance zones for elementary, middle, and high schools.
Significant residential growth in the northwest and northeast regions of MISD will lead to overcrowding at Frazier, Press, and Webb Elementary Schools. At the same time, elementary enrollment in the southwest and southeast regions of the district has declined, creating an imbalance in student distribution. This growth is also impacting secondary schools. Scott Johnson Middle School and McKinney North High School are experiencing increased enrollment pressures, while the district’s other four middle schools and two high schools are seeing declining student numbers.
To address these challenges and avoid the operational and staffing costs associated with underutilized campuses, the Strategic Planning Committee and the Long Range Facility Planning Committee (LRFPC) have both recommended that MISD consider updating attendance boundaries at all levels and repurposing underutilized campuses for alternative district operational uses.
You can find more information on the Educational Facilities Alignment Committee on the website page and in the flyer above.

Thank you to all for your patience during our FIRST WEEK of School Drop Offs and Pick Ups! There was a significant improvement from the 1st day to Friday!
To further improve it and help alleviate the carpool line traffic congestion we experienced this past week, we have collaborated with the City of McKinney to develop a new traffic pattern for our carpool lane during drop-off and pickup times. Please look over the map below carefully, so you will be aware of where and how to enter the traffic line. No vehicles should stop, stand, or park within an intersection, including a roundabout.
At Morning Arrival, we also ask that you avoid parking in the street and only park in the designated parking spots at the front of the school or in the parking lot off Jennie Street. If you are parking, an adult will need to walk the child(ren) across the street and to the front door area. Students should NOT be allowed out of a car that is not parked in a designated parking spot.
All cars will be asked to turn right upon exiting Webb parking lots during arrival and dismissal.
