The 2025-2026 school year officially begins today, and this video highlights those first moments of the doors opening at three McKinney ISD campuses: McKinney High School, Valley Creek Elementary and Evans Middle school. Keep your eyes peeled: in the middle of all the students, teachers and parents featured in the footage, you’ll spot Principal Dr. Paula Kent, Principal Dr. Ebonee King and Principal Melissa Hernandez.

Jaclyn Harrison from Valley Creek Elementary is the 2025 Elementary Teacher of the Year for McKinney ISD. She is a 5th grade teacher, and she has worked as an educator for 4 years.

Dr. Ebonee King serves as principal at Valley Creek Elementary, and over a year ago the PTA for her campus created a culture & diversity committee with a unified goal in mind: acknowledge and celebrate the diversity of their community.
The Family Cultures & Traditions Night, held last month on the campus, marked the first of what Valley Creek hopes to be MANY events that showcases and shares the heritage of their neighborhood.
