Parent-Teacher Conference Opportunities
As we look ahead to the 2026 - 2027 school year, we want to share an important update regarding our parent conference schedule.
Beginning next school year, parent conferences will take place after the first semester, beginning February 1, 2027, and continuing throughout the month as needed. In addition, campuses will offer an End-of-Year Progress Check in May 2027 to review student growth and readiness for the next grade level.
This adjustment allows conferences to be grounded in meaningful academic data and student growth.
By February, teachers and families will be able to review:
Middle of Year (MOY) MAP growth
First semester grades
Intervention impact
Goal setting for second semester
In May, progress checks will provide:
Reinforces growth from BOY → MOY → EOY
Allows families to see full-year impact
Strengthens transition conversations for the next grade level
Supports intervention decisions and summer planning
Our goal is to ensure that conference conversations are meaningful, focused on growth, and supportive of each child’s academic journey. Of course, all parents have the right to request a parent/teacher conference at any time, should a concern arise, outside of the designated dates.
We appreciate your continued partnership and look forward to another strong year of learning together.
You are invited to schedule a one-on-one parent-teacher conference during the following windows:
February 1, 2027 (throughout the month as needed)
Post–First Semester Conferences
May 2027
End-of-Year Progress Check
Conferences can be scheduled by contacting your child’s teacher directly or calling the campus office. If you have any questions or need assistance scheduling a conference, please let us know. We value your engagement in your child’s learning journey!
Student Handbook
In accordance with Texas Education Code § 26.0121, McKinney ISD provides at least two opportunities each school year for parents or guardians to participate in in-person conferences with their child’s teachers. These opportunities are scheduled during designated periods in the fall and spring semesters.
Parents are also encouraged to contact their child’s teacher or campus office at any time throughout the year to request a one-on-one conference.
The district will communicate available conference dates/windows annually and provide instructions for scheduling. Campuses will work with families to ensure conference opportunities are accessible and responsive to parent needs.
