Emergency Management

The McKinney ISD Safety & Security Department, through direct interaction and collaboration with city and county first responder and emergency management agencies, will ensure all-hazard readiness and an ability to prepare for, respond to, and recover from incidents and emergencies.  By implementing an all-hazard, school-centered safety and security program, McKinney ISD has an enhanced commitment to protecting students, staff and visitors from hazards and threats most common to K-12 education systems.

Our Commitment
Our commitment to our community is centered on application of emergency management and continuity of operations principles and best practices endorsed by the Texas School Safety Center and the U.S. Department of Education's Office of Safe and Supportive Schools/Readiness and Emergency Management for Schools (REMS) Technical Assistance Center. This commitment is reviewed and refined through routine hazard and risk assessments, annual maintenance of district and campus emergency operations plans, and ongoing training to ensure district readiness.

Our Goals

  • To ensure the life safety of our McKinney ISD students, staff, and visitors.

  • To preserve McKinney ISD property.

  • To facilitate rapid incident stabilization through application of proven all-hazard incident management techniques, including the coordinated organization and deployment of McKinney ISD resources.

  • To guide the transition to recovery after an incident or emergency.
