Caldwell Dual Language Academy offers a K–5 two-way dual language immersion program. In this model, students from two language backgrounds learn together, receiving instruction in both English and Spanish. Each class is made up of approximately half emergent bilingual students and half students who are already proficient in English.
The program is open to kindergarten and 1st-grade students with no prior experience in a second language required. Students proficient in English entering grades 2–5 must have prior dual language experience or demonstrate language proficiency by meeting the required Spanish and English assessment criteria.
Families must complete the Caldwell Dual Language Academy application and the district’s standard enrollment process, if new to MISD. The Dual Language team will review all information and notify families of their acceptance status. If this is a student’s first time enrolling in a Texas school, the state requires an English language proficiency assessment for some students. For more information, visit the Caldwell Dual Language Academy website.
Kindergarten and 1st grade application for In-District and MISD residents opens on December 8, 2025. Registration for other grades will open at a later date.
