ASVAB
Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (Grades 10-12)
The Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery -ASVAB is a comprehensive, multiple-aptitude assessment and is the most widely used test of its kind. Originally developed to predict success in military training and occupations, the ASVAB has been supported by extensive research demonstrating its effectiveness in measuring academic abilities and forecasting performance across a broad range of careers.
ASVAB results provide students with valuable insight into their strengths in verbal, mathematical, scientific, and technical skill areas, allowing them to compare their performance with peers at the same grade level. Scores are shared with students and counselors through the ASVAB Summary Results report, which includes grade-specific, gender-specific, and combined standard scores, as well as score ranges for each subtest and composite Career Exploration Scores. The report also offers percentile rankings and clear explanations to help students interpret their results and apply them to future academic and career planning.
The ASVAB consists of eight content areas: General Science, Arithmetic Reasoning, Word Knowledge, Paragraph Comprehension, Mathematics Knowledge, Electronics Information, Auto and Shop Information, and Mechanical Comprehension. Explore the TEA ASVAB Resources.
