Our kindergarteners have had a fantastic time engaging with science! They investigated everyday phenomena by building a "Structure for Shade," deepening their understanding of three-dimensional Science and Engineering topics through student-led inquiry. Using the anchor phenomenon of melting ice cream, they explored the question, "How can a structure be designed to reduce the warming effects of sunlight?"
Next, we learned about the physical properties of rocks, such as size, texture, pattern, and shine. Students then used the vocabulary words they learned to conduct their own hands-on exploration of rock properties. We're so proud of their curiosity and enthusiasm for learning!

A HUGE thank you to our amazing Minshew PTA for bringing the YUCK Show to our Colts today! The students had an absolute blast and learned so much along the way. We are so grateful for all the support that makes these special experiences possible for our kids!

Fifth Graders in Action!
Our fifth-grade students are diving deep into poetry using the SMILE strategy!
They’re learning how to break down poems by focusing on:
Structure – Analyzing the poem’s form and organization
Message – Uncovering the core meaning and theme
Image – Exploring vivid sensory details
Language – Understanding the power of words and literary devices
Emotion – Identifying the feelings the poem evokes
This approach helps them gain a deeper understanding of poetry and develop strong analytical skills. Keep up the amazing work, students!
